For all you waiting on pins and needles to hear about my bread (ha)...it was ok. Brian thought it was great; I was more critical. The crumb is pretty dense and chewy, almost like a ciabatta bread. I'm baking a second loaf right now. When I made the dough two days ago, I doubled the recipe. I baked half yesterday (this is the loaf I posted pics of). I'm curious to see how the longer rise affects the outcome. Stay tuned--I know you want to.

Erin,
One of my fondest memories of my childhood and my mother are the breads that she baked. I never had
store bought bread until I was 10years old. The bread
(several loafs) would come out of the oven of the
wood burning stove, and cool on the kitchen table. It smelled so good. Later, a thick slice of that bread, with home churned butter and a glass of milk from our
own cow. I can still smell it. It brings tears to my
eyes just to remember.

Erin,
I'll have Mom send you a poem that I wrote
about my mother's baking.
